After a 20-year career teaching music, I decided it was time for a change. While I continue to make music in my free time, I find that helping people face life’s challenges feels like the best path for me. Having completed a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy at Southern Nazarene University, I now see clients at A New Day Counseling in Oklahoma City.
Who I See
I treat individual adults, families, and couples. Generally, child clients will be referred to a therapist who specializes in this kind of work. Select adolescents may be a good fit for individual therapy in my practice, and this will be determined on a case-by-case basis. While my work tends to focus more on your daily experience than attaching labels, I often see people who have concerns over:
- emotional trauma
- attention difficulties
- cognitive functioning
- relationship difficulties
- life changes
Whether your concerns are on the above list or not, if you feel we can work together to help you thrive in your personal life, I invite you to contact me.
How I Work
My approach to therapy embraces the uniqueness and wholeness of every individual. With a focus on empathy and compassion, our therapeutic relationship will lead us to explore your personal experiences and understandings, how you attach to others and interact in relationships, how prior experiences may continue to affect you in the present, and how the mind interacts with the body to shape your daily experience.
My integrative approach can be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. As we explore ways you have learned to protect yourself throughout life, understanding how past hurts live on in the mind and body, new insights and possibilities can arise.
It is a journey we can take together.
