I provide counseling in Oklahoma City, and am one of very few neurofeedback practitioners in Oklahoma. After a 20-year career teaching music, I decided it was time for a change. While I continue to make music in my free time, I find that helping people face life’s challenges feels like the best path for me. Having completed a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy at Southern Nazarene University, I now see clients at LifeWorks Counseling in Oklahoma City.
Who I See
I treat individual adults, couples, and selected adolescents. Generally, child clients will be referred to a therapist who specializes in this kind of work. Select adolescents may be a good fit for individual therapy in my practice, and this will be determined on a case-by-case basis. While my work tends to focus more on your daily experience than attaching labels, I often see people who have concerns over:
- emotional trauma
- attention difficulties
- cognitive functioning
- relationship difficulties
- life changes
Whether your concerns are on the above list or not, if you feel we can work together to help you thrive in your personal life, I invite you to contact me.
How I Work
My approach to therapy embraces the uniqueness and wholeness of every individual. With a focus on empathy and compassion, our therapeutic relationship will lead us to explore your personal experiences and understandings, how you attach to others and interact in relationships, how prior experiences may continue to affect you in the present, and how the mind interacts with the body to shape your daily experience.
I work with clients to train the brain directly for more optimal functioning. We do this by monitoring brainwave activity directly, and using this information to teach the brain to change its wave patterns. By doing so, we can help clients become more calm and less reactive, improve focused attention, sleep better, and reduce the symptoms of depression and anxiety. Many neurofeedback clients are able to reduce or eliminate the medications they take for attention, anxiety, and/or depressive conditions.
