Neurofeedback is a method of training the brain to regulate itself. While this is accomplished using recent advances in neuroscience and computing, it is truly a learning process.
Once we do an assessment to see how you want to feel better or improve your performance, we find out what wave patterns your brain is currently making. Then, we meet regularly (usually twice a week) to train your brain to adjust these wave patterns.
We show you a video or game while monitoring your brainwaves. The video or game play properly when your brain is making the waves we want to promote. When it does not make those patterns, the game or video does not play properly, encouraging your brain to change its ways.
Check out this short video for an explanation.
Training the brain to regulate itself offers many advantages:
Neurofeedback does not use any medications, and can reduce or eliminate the need for drugs in certain conditions. You may be able to reduce or avoid the cost and side effects associated with drug therapies.
Based on cutting-edge research in neuroscience, physiology, and psychology, neurofeedback has been shown effective in addressing many concerns.
Neurofeedback is a technology-assisted learning process. Because of this, there is no waiting for effects to “kick in” or experiencing a “crash” when they wear off. They typically do not wear off.
